Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Financial Controller to oversee the financial management and reporting for our upscale restaurant and bar. As the Financial Controller, you will be responsible for ensuring accurate financial records, implementing sound financial controls, and providing strategic financial guidance to support business growth. This is a key leadership role that requires strong analytical skills, financial acumen, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Financial Planning and Analysis:
  • Develop and implement financial planning processes, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling
  • Analyze financial data, identify trends, and provide insights to senior management to support strategic decision-making
  • Monitor financial performance against budget and provide regular reports on key financial metrics
  • Financial Reporting and Compliance:
  • Prepare timely and accurate financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements
  • Ensure compliance with accounting principles, industry standards, and applicable laws and regulations
  • Coordinate and oversee the annual audit process and liaise with external auditors
  • Budgeting and Cost Control:
  • Develop and manage the annual budgeting process, working closely with department heads to ensure alignment with business objectives
  • Monitor and control expenses, identify areas of cost savings, and implement strategies to improve financial performance
  • Conduct variance analysis to assess budgetary performance and provide recommendations for improvement
  • Financial Operations and Systems:
  • Implement and maintain robust financial systems, processes, and internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure accurate financial reporting
  • Oversee accounts payable and receivable, payroll, and general ledger functions to ensure timely and accurate processing
  • Collaborate with IT and other departments to optimize financial systems and automate financial processes where possible
  • Cash Flow Management:
  • Manage cash flow to ensure sufficient liquidity for daily operations and strategic initiatives
  • Monitor cash flow projections and develop strategies to optimize working capital and minimize financial risks
  • Maintain relationships with banks and financial institutions to facilitate banking transactions and secure appropriate financing when needed
  • Financial Analysis and Decision Support:
  • Conduct financial analysis on business initiatives, capital investments, and pricing strategies to assess profitability and return on investment
  • Provide financial insights and recommendations to support operational decision-making and drive business growth
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to evaluate business proposals and assess their financial feasibility
  • Team Leadership and Development:
  • Lead and manage the finance team, providing guidance, coaching, and professional development opportunities
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and collaboration within the finance department
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure effective communication and alignment of financial goals and objectives
